Elite's Political Opinion, How Valid Is It?

The educated population is suddenly so aware and outspoken about each issue with the government forgetting that the dinner discussions don’t bring any tangible change except for well, burnt bridges and high blood pressure. We often forget about the ones who bring people to power, the majority formed by the uneducated, poor chunk of the 1.3 billion. So how does the majority decide whose face they want to see on billboards? Based on emotion, values? Looking in a holistic manner, their decision simply reflects the working of our society. So why did they vote for Modi? Is it because our society values age, experience and struggles more than skill, ability or grooming. That does make a lot of sense, doesn’t it? It is now that we have started brutally rejecting nepotism. Bollywood stars coming from affluent families are heavily trolled. Honestly, we do have a soft spot for underdogs, just look at the participants in any reality show. We love ourselves a good sob story. And ageism is very much prevalent in our society. For instance, whenever I try to provide any perspective to an elder the primary response I get is “You don’t know anything about life” or a more subtle “Badtameez”. So by solely looking at the views of the prospering segments of the nation, are we analysing the wrong group’s behaviour, who might be more sensible but on the larger scale, irrelevant?
